We were on a sheltered easterly aspect looking at safe travel techniques, moving together, alpine ropework and using direct belays. We finished the day with a multipitch abseil using rock and snow anchors - it was Maz and Bob's first ever proper REAL abseil!
With the warmer temperatures any recent fresh wind slab was moist and care needed to be taken to avoid a slide due to our crampons balling up.
The rocky ridges and crags were looking a bit blacker although the classic snow gully's and ice routes are still in really excellent condition.

Ron, we had a superb time over the last 5 days! We learned more than I could have thought possible and you were a calm, patient and inspiring mentor. Winter is a serious proposition but under your guidance, Bob and I feel that summer will not cut it any more! Thanks for everything you taught us and for showing us a new path to take - introducing us to a world of possibilities. We'll be back...
Maz
