Alps 2011 - Vallee Blanche - Acclimatisation

Another trip up high for more acclimatisation, checking out routes and to test our new PHD Yukon smocks - very toasty on their own and way to hot in a sleeping bag for me!!!

Ron, I love the Yukon smock from PHD - I have one and I nearly brought it up to the Cairngorms with me this Feb. Great bit of kit and so warm! Glad you enjoyed to Alps and see you in 2012...

...and very light not much heavier than the Montane Prism or Rab Generator I normally carry but ten time as warm with a comfort rating of minus 16 for 414 gram! I probably won't use the Yukon down smock much in Scotland but great for high altitude dry cold conditions in the Alps of Greater Ranges...
We used the PHD Yukon smocks on their own in a bivvy bag, with a half Karrmat and legs in our rucksack's in the Vallee Blanche. I had a comfy night despite the subzero temps. Fi had cold feet when she removed the rucksack during the night!!!

When my down bag failed as a consequence of condensation inside my tent dripping onto the bag and ruining the down, the Yukon kept me from freezing my backside off. Great top.
