A huge overnight dump - of snow!

Quite a surprise this morning when I saw how much snow had actually fallen overnight. Using the garden table test the depth measured just short of 25 cm or 10 inches in old money. The winds have been coming from the NE so a lot of the snow has drifted into sheltered southerly aspects creating thigh deep drifts and little cornices on the upper forest tracks and 450 metres. Northerly aspects are more scoured though still quite white.
Higher up in the Cairngorms the Northern Corries look scoured from the the North but seen from the SW the cover looks very deep and white with obvious looking cornices! For more details and photos see the SAIS blog here
