Deep snow drifts and good powder skiing!

A really fantastic start to the winter season with snow to low levels and deep drifts in the hills. The skiing on Cairngorm Mountain is now pretty good although any travel on foot off-piste is now arduous and time consuming without skis or snowshoes.
There's now plenty of deep soft snow and wind pack on all aspects so careful route choice and good avalanche awareness is essential for safe mountain travel. The Scottish Avalanche Reports for the Cairngorms start again this weekend and can be found here
After a slight rise on Saturday the temperature drops again on Sunday with further significant falls of snow and heavy drifting being forecast well into the next week or so... :-)
