Dry and sunny with a great variety of snow conditions!

Great visibility, sun and firm snow for the first day of the Advanced Winter Mountaineering course with Leander and sheltered from the wind it was surprisingly pleasant.
One of the best days of the winter so far with a good variety of snow and ice conditions for Winter Skills and Winter Mountaineering.
Being a 1:1 guiding ratio, we covered a lot of ground today, both in terrain and in technique.
We looked at everything from equipment, route choice, weather and avalanche, basic ice axe and crampon use, movement skills on a variety of terrain to climbing cornices and Grade 1 ground as well as emergency snow shelters - phew!
