The ski area was very busy and the carparks full my mid morning. It was a cracking day with unbelievably good cover above the Cairngorm ski areas mid station. I carried my skis up to just below the mid-station before putting the skins on to climb up onto the plateau.
The snow was excellent for skinning and skiing off piste with complete cover on the upper mountain.
There's complete cover on the Cairngorm to MacDui plateau and on Braeriach. From what I could see the snow cover even extends down into the heart of the Lairig Ghru.
For the first time this winter never mind it being spring, all the gullies in Coire an t-Sneachda are brimming with deep snow right up from the coire floor. The cover is especially deep and good on westerly aspects. It's possible to ski from the plateau down into Coire an t-Sneachda all the way from Pt 1141 to Windy Col and even down Aladdin's Couloir, judging by the ski tracks!!!
