Mist and sun on Cairngorm!
Nathalie, Susan, Chris and Fi enjoyed another lovely day on day two of our Talisman Winter Skills course. A bit misty in the morning and then great weather in the afternoon.
The snow was hard on the way up onto the Cairngorm MacDui plateau via the Coire an Lochain and Lurcher's Ridge and great practise for using crampons.
The crampons were taken off on the plateau as the noisy booming snow surface on the plateau softened as the day warmed up...!
Apparently it was very busy on some routes such as Fiacaill Ridge with some folk climbing over each other, while at the same time several large groups were spotted in the gullies below some very large droopy, sagging cornices on the coire rim and in Jacob's Ladder!
Great skiing in the ski area although off-piste skiers were seen carrying their skis to avoid rocks on the plateau and heather hopping lower down towards the busy carparks.
