Looked Alpine from Aviemore but was definitely Scottish in the coires due to storm force gusty winds and clouds of freezing spindrift...
To avoid the fresh windslab building on the north west facing slopes we climbed Fiacaill Couloir in physically challenging conditions before abbing back down to avoid being blown off the plateau - other than that climbing conditions were superb with solid first time placements in the well frozen snow ice!
Ian really enjoyed his introduction to Scottish conditions in contrast to American ice climbing conditions ;-) On the walk out despite being braced against the strong gusts, we were blown over several times and I now have a hurty knee - definitely a lot windier than the forecast suggested :-(
