A pleasant and relatively calm day with good views and firm snow for day two of our Christmas Winter Mountaineering course. The ski area was busy as was the Mess of Pottage mixed routes. Despite climbers on many of the other popular routes and some of the gullies, Coire an t-Sneachda wasn't too busy for the Christmas break! Most of the winter routes seemed to be really well banked with snow and all the gullies looked really well filled. We climbed on a NE aspect which was nice and firm but not icy. There was the odd area of soft slab and breakable crust but generally conditions were surprisingly good for the time of year.
