Despite lower wind speeds today the rise in temps, wind direction and blasting wet spindrift made it feel very unpleasant compared to yesterday! However this is consolidating the snow well and fattening the ice above 900 metres.
This provided good sticky ice for Mary to try some steep ice climbing. Wet tomorrow with temps above summit level before dropping again on Wednesday and this should really improve the climbing as the wet snow-pack consolidates and refreezes.
In fact I'd be surprised if we didn't get some of the best winter climbing conditions we've had for a number of years in the the next week or two, assuming no major thaw ;-)
