Cold and bright but still windy!

A much colder and brighter day with the old snow frozen hard and very icy.

A few photos from today show the extent of the recent thaw. The snow cover in the Cairngorms looked more like May rather than February though what the photos don't show is the extensive snow fields on the plateau and on easterly aspects, the icy ground in places and the nice dry rock for summer climbing!!
Fortunately we still have just enough old snow for our Winter Mountaineering courses for those prepared to put in the effort and walk! For an idea of climbing conditions in Coire an t-Sneachda today see Alan H's video here
